Kyle's First Day

Honestly, I thought it would be more dramatic.  Tears.  Emotions.  Grieving another year gone by and the passing of an era.  But really all of that was not in the picture.  As is Kyle's tendency, I expected him to be shy going to his first day of Pre-K.  So we had a chat on the way to school.  "Kyle do you know who you are?"  And on I went ranting as only a mother could about how wonderful and incredible he really is.  "And what is there to be afraid of?"  I felt like a football coach prepping my star player for the last play of a championship game.

So we walked into his room.  He looked at me, smiled, gave me a hug and said goodbye.  I asked if he was okay and he said, "Yes Mom!"  So I left.  He had his head high and wasn't playing the shy card at all.

I had no worries.  And then I got an email from his teacher.  Since it wasn't a phone call, I assumed it wasn't too serious.  Here is what it said, "Kyle had an absolutely amazing day today.  He listened intently, followed instructions and set great examples.  He is extremely competent and confident!"

And you know this proud mama was BEAMING!!  So proud of my kiddo on his first day of real school. Now I'm off to pick him up and shower him with kisses, while he's still cool with that mommy affection!

Could he be any cuter?

Such the picture of prep and perfection...and then there was Clayton...
We'll talk more about this cutie pie next time.

  2. Love the contrast between Kyle and Clayton. Sounds like Kyle was SO ready for this. What a fabulous teacher to craft those words specifically about Kyle -- to discern/observe on the first day and offer you that kind of feedback.
