Big brother

Since the whole idea of adoption came up (last July), Kyle has amazed me with a tenderness and compassion for the needy and especially the fatherless.  Once while looking at pictures of an orphanage he asked if they had mommies and daddies.  When I told him no, he just stopped and cried.

Tonight as we prayed for our little girl, a whole array of questions ensued.  We talked about how her birth mommy has/had her in her belly and what might have happened to cause her to give her baby to the orphanage.  We talked about what an incredible gift that is to us.  And Kyle said, "YES!  And now we get to take care of her and give her food.  And Mommy, I know I might need to change her diapers.  I will take care of her and I will even cook."  When I asked what he might want to cook her, he stopped and thought and replied, "Salad.  That will be healthy for her.  And maybe when she grows up she might want to wear my jammies."

I told Kyle that God must think he's going to be a pretty special big brother for Him to trust us with this little girl. His smile gleamed with pride.
