Since arriving in Nairobi, we have seen the immense difference in cities. Nairobi is MUCH bigger and cosmopolitan butg we happen to be staying in a little ol guest house with VERY SPOTTY internet. So...after literally an hour and a half of waiting for four pictures to download, an error signal appeared erasing all of them. Sorry for the black and white bland post, but I just wanted those who are following to know we are alive and well. I will post the fun stuff later.
Despite our fear of not getting in for an Embassy required medical appointment for Aliyah due to overbooking, we were able to get her in and through the process all by lunch. Amazing! Though a bit malnourished at 16 lbs and 11 months, the Dr. said she will make a quick recovery.
Also in spite of overbooked appointments at the Embassy, we were allowed an appointment today for paperwork submission and tomorrow for an interview. The paperwork portion went well this morning and we look forward to completing our last portion of the process with the interview tomorrow a.m.
The thing we will wait for and PRAY is complete by Friday, is the Adam Walsh screening declaring us "safe" and with no criminal record to speak of. This has not been completed as of this afternoon, so we are very eager to hear that this step is complete. Our flights leave Friday p.m., so Friday we pray it will all be FINISHED.
At one point in the waiting stateside process, I was trying to explain to Kyle (5) that the next step was to do such and such. He asked how many steps there were. HA! Too many to count. I feel like we are embarking on the VERY LAST ONE though I know there will be more to do when we finally get stateside.
But OH HOW NICE it will be to have her safe and sound at HOME! I can not wait for our family to be complete!
In the meantime Aliyah is just great! She is waving "hi" and figuring out how to blow kisses. She has warmed up to the idea of taking baths and I have a great picture of her slapping the water much to her great delight. I'll post that when the internet is more reliable. Okay, so maybe I had a little patience left in me to wait 2o more minutes. Cute
huh?
Thank you to all of you who are praying. We continue to see God at work paving the way here. It has been an INCREDIBLE adventure. I'm sure it's only just begun!
precious!!! love her little face and cannot wait to see you both home :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Could she be any cuter?!? That pic was definitely worth the extra 20 minutes for you to share it with us!
ReplyDeletePraying for a quick and seemless journey ahead!
will be praying that you can leave by friday! what a little doll you have, glad you uploaded it!
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed following your journey. Our Carrington was 13 1/2 months when we got her and weighed 17 lbs. She could barely sit. Now 14 months later she registers in the 75% and she does a fine job of keeping up with her brothers. We had the same Dr. in Nairobi (judging by a pic posted by your travelmates). So my point is that yes, Aliyah will be fine. Don't worry about her size now.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you all!
